It Would Have Been Better Not to Cross This Line

On 12 January 2026, the 1,419th day has begun since the start of the open, full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the troops of the Russian neo-imperial state. This date has become a symbolic threshold, as the war has now lasted one day longer than the war waged by the Third Reich against the USSR (from 22 June 1941 to 9 May 1945), the outcome of which today’s Kremlin propagandists once promised to “repeat.”

At the same time, these two wars are not entirely comparable: the scale, the composition of the armies, the types of weapons, and the quantitative balance of resources differ significantly across many parameters.

Nevertheless, in factual terms, Russian forces — despite suffering enormous losses in manpower and equipment — have failed to fully reach the administrative borders of Donetsk Oblast and have not captured a single regional center. This explains the rage of the “Kremlin Führer,” who seeks to break the will of Ukrainians to resist through missile and aerial terror against the civilian population, the complete destruction of many towns and villages, and the devastation of critical infrastructure.

However, the will of free people can never be broken.

Glory to Ukraine, its people, and its Armed Forces.

Victory will be ours.
