Will Ukraine Establish Stonemasons’ Day?

Member of the Parliament of Ukraine S. Hryvko has submitted to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine a draft resolution “On Establishing Stonemasons’ Day in Ukraine” (Registration No. 15528 dated 19 August 2026), proposing that it be celebrated annually on 22 August.

The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy, chaired by M. Poturaiev, has been designated as the lead committee responsible for consideration of the draft resolution.

The preamble to the draft resolution states that the establishment of Stonemasons’ Day in Ukraine is intended to recognize the “significant contribution of stonemasons to the development of settlements, the construction of residential, civil, industrial, cultural and defence infrastructure, and the preservation of Ukraine’s historical and cultural heritage; to honour the work of stonemasons, enhance the prestige of the stonemasonry profession and other skilled trades, promote vocational education, and recognize the important role of qualified construction industry professionals in the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine.”
