For your information: US dependence on mineral imports

Recently, there has been a lot of information in the media about intergovernmental agreements between Ukraine and the United States regarding the signing of an agreement on cooperation in the extraction and processing of critical minerals, including rare earth metals.

The signing of this agreement initially provided for the U.S. side to benefit from the extraction and processing of such minerals in Ukraine in exchange for further assistance from the United States. Without touching upon the subsequent US requirements for the terms of this agreement, as well as its political component, the Association provides information on the US dependence on mineral imports, which was made public by the Educational and Scientific Institute “Institute of Geology” of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv during a joint meeting of the Anti-Crisis Headquarters for Economic Sustainability under Martial Law and the Board of the Ukrainian League of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs on March 28, 2025:
