In the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine

  • Members of Parliament of Ukraine R. Stefanchuk, O. Korniyenko, O. Kondratiuk (together with 35 MPs in total) submitted to the Verkhovna Rada a draft Law “On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of Ukraine on Improving the Procedures for the Adaptation of Ukrainian Legislation to the Law of the European Union (EU acquis)” (Reg. No. 13653 of August 17, 2025).

Adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to the EU acquis is a key condition for EU membership, as stipulated by the Association Agreement and reaffirmed by the decision of the European Council to open accession negotiations with Ukraine.

At the same time, the current legal framework does not ensure sufficient institutional and procedural capacity for implementing the adaptation process during the negotiation stage, while the Law of Ukraine of March 18, 2004, No. 1629-IV “On the Nationwide Program for the Adaptation of the Legislation of Ukraine to the Legislation of the European Union” has lost its relevance, as it does not reflect the modern requirements of the EU acquis, the results of legislative screening, or the new architecture of law-making activities.

  • The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development, at its meeting on August 12, 2025, considered the draft Law of Ukraine “On the Basic Principles of State Supervision/Control” (Reg. No. 5837 of August 5, 2021) and recommended that the Verkhovna Rada adopt it at second reading and as a whole.

As of August 20 of this year, Protocol No. 240 of this meeting has not yet been published on the official webpage of the Committee: https://komprompol.rada.gov.ua/.
